Stand Up to Cancer Team Joyful Hope Fundraiser

A big thank you to all who participated in our first fundraising event for Stand Up to Cancer, Team Joyful Hope. All of the donations, hard work, and friendships formed through this process are so meaningful and endlessly appreciated. It is so rewarding to know we are making progress toward funding dream teams of scientists and maybe someday our little ones will not have to battle cancer.

Our first event was a fun one! If you haven’t read the earlier posts about the event I’ll tell you a bit here. My mother-in-law was approached by a lovely man named Gary from Acadia Nature Cruises. He offered to give his boat and have us fill it! He generously said no money was needed and he would supply a nature guide. All we needed was to set a price for entry and 100%, yes 100%, would go to Stand Up to Cancer-Team Joyful Hope. This turned into a wonderful outpouring of support from the town of Bar Harbor, ME. The radio stations, television station, and local business publicized it and contributed. It is amazing to see communities come together to support a cause. It kind of restores your faith in humanity.

The totals are in and it looks like we reached $3,442! We are getting all the checks together over the next few days and looking forward to seeing our totals go up! We had an evening filled with beautiful scenery and views of Frenchman Bay, great conversation, food, music, and a common purpose. A wonderful evening was had by all. Thank you again to Nancy Corliss, Gary Fagan, and all who came out to support Stand Up to Cancer and my team, Team Joyful Hope.
